Hi y'all! I'm new to blogging for my team. Bear with me as I regain my writing voice.
One of the many many awesome things about being in real estate is getting to see interiors of all types of homes. It can be quite inspiring and at times surprising.
Furniture arrangement, balanced belongings, textures and colors, and interior viewing planes are crucial to a home's feel. As real estate agents, we notice furniture and decor arrangements right away. When we help you sell your home, we think about how a potential Buyer will interpret the space and help you determine how to utilize your belongings to entice a potential Buyer into wanting to buy the lifestyle that comes with it.
Occasionally I walk into a home and rearrange the furniture before I leave. You might think I am kidding but I'm not. Of course, I don't actually move anything until after a discussion with the home owner. We all have our flaws, maybe some are quirkier than others? (Please, please don't be afraid to invite me in after reading this!) . So, you can imagine how excited I was to fall into the black hole of furniture arrangement on the good ole internet.
"Through design and décor, you help communicate a message—and through the arrangement and functionality of the furniture, you help facilitate communication."
Practically every beautiful photo of a home's interior has symmetry going on that maybe isn't obvious to an untrained eye. Visual symmetry is relaxing. Think equal weight, form, color and/or texture placement. Little moments here and there that balance each other (design gold).
In this room, Amber Interiors takes symmetry literally and creatively. Notice how the furniture placement seems perfect, like the room was made for it? Do you see the symmetry of color, weight, shape, pattern, and texture. Notice the still life moments flanking the fireplace? A plant on each side, similar black frames, object height and colors. Here, she created the illusion of balance.
"Never underestimate the power of a focal point."
Fireplaces make an obvious focal point. If possible, try to hide your T.V. or at least have an additional focal point in the room to draw attention to a more organic object or view. Behind those white cabinet doors - you guessed it - a T.V.
I love everything about this vignette. It tells such a great story of the home owners and either their current or a past life. They are clearly too cool for school! Let's be friends??
When you are arranging furniture and deciding on decor, think about the space as a whole and also in small parts. If you need help, we have a great designer to recommend who works with us and our clients. Also, here are some helpful furniture arranging dark holes to climb into. Apartment Therapy is a great source.
Your takeaways:
1. Symmetry. It isn't boring. The perfection of symmetry allows the mind to rest, which is a great feeling especially when you walk into an interior space.
2. The value of hiring me for your real estate needs extends well beyond the obvious. I don't just have photos taken and call it a day to sell your home. Along with my designer, I will help to prepare your home for the Buyers' ultimate experience. Call me to talk about it!
